Jakarta - Indosat Mega Media (IM2) mejadikan teknologi komputasi awan alias cloud computingsebagai andalan baru untuk menggarap segmen pasar pelanggan korporasi di Indonesia.

Upaya menggarap segmen korporat ini dilakukannya dengan cara menggelar edukasi dan transfer pengetahuan dalam sesi temu pelanggan. IM2 dalam sesi ini menggandeng vendor Microsoft dan Cisco.

"Ini bagian dari usaha kami mendekatkan diri kepada pelanggan korporat dengan menyuguhkan suatu teknologi dan business update seputar cloud computing," ujar Direktur Utama IM2, Indar Atmanto dalam keterangannya, Jumat (22/1/2010).

"Semoga dengan materi yang kami suguhkan bersama Cisco dan Microsoft dapat memperkaya khasanah informasi dan pengetahuan dari pelanggan IM2, tentang bagaimana posisi cloud computing saat ini dan tantangannya di masa depan," lanjut dia.

Indar menjelaskan, cloud computing akan mengubah paradigma perusahaan dalam memandang investasi teknologi komunikasi informasi. "Investasi untuk modal kapital berubah menjadi biaya operasional dengan besaran yang lebih efisien akibat adanya cloud computing," ujarnya.

Menurut dia, sektor paling berpeluang berkembang dengan hadirnya cloud computing adalah pengembang konten. Sebab, entry barrier untuk memulai sebuah usaha telah disediakan oleh cloud computing.

"Ini membuat para kreator bebas berkereasi karena semuanya sudah disediakan secara virtual," jelasnya.

Cloud computing sendiri merupakan pemanfaatan teknologi internet untuk menyediakan sumber komputasi. Keuntungan utama dari konsep ini, salah satunya membuat pengguna tak lagi perlu menyediakan infrastruktur mulai dari data center sampai ke aplikasi desktop untuk memiliki suatu sistem.

"Simpelnya, semua yang ada di internet adalah aplikasi yang bisa digunakan oleh pelanggan," kata Indar.

Namun, untuk mendukung hadirnya cloud computing diperlukan infrastruktur broadbandsebagai pipa pengantar dan kapasitas bandwidth yang cukup besar. Apalagi, infrastrukturbroadband di Indonesia antara barat dan timur masih sangat timpang.

By moving business applications to cloud computing, large organizations can reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions 30 percent or more compared to running those apps on their own infrastructure, according to a study released byMicrosoft, Accenture and WSP Environment & Energy. The study also finds that small businesses can garner substantially higher savings.

The study, ” Cloud Computing and Sustainability: The Environmental Benefits of Moving to the Cloud,” finds that both large datacenters, such as those run by Microsoft, and small businesses can benefit by moving their applications to the cloud. Larger datacenters largely benefit from economies of scale and operational efficiencies beyond what is typically found in on-premise IT infrastructures, according to the report.

The study results focused on three commonly used Microsoft applications for e-mail, content sharing and customer relationship management: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM with their cloud-based equivalents — Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft SharePoint Online and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online

The study evaluated the carbon footprint of server, networking and storage infrastructure for three different deployment sizes (100, 1,000 and 10,000 users), finding that the smaller the organization, the larger the benefit of moving their business applications to a cloud environment, according to researchers.

When small organizations (100 users) move to the cloud from their own local servers, the study finds that they can reduce their carbon emissions by up to 90 percent. Medium-sized companies (1000 users) can save up to 30 to 60 percent, while larger corporations still see significant savings, cutting energy consumption and carbon emissions 30 percent or more.

A case study with a large consumer-goods company indicates that 32 percent of emissions could be saved by moving 50,000 e-mail users in North America and Europe to Microsoft’s cloud.

The study finds that there are four key factors for the savings: dynamic provisioning (better matching of server capacity to ongoing demand), multi-tenancy (massive shared infrastructure), server utilization (performing higher workloads with a smaller infrastructure footprint), and datacenter efficiency (designs minimize energy use per given amount of computing power).

While many organizations could address some of these factors in their own datacenters to decrease energy use and emissions, the study suggests that large, public cloud infrastructures are better positioned to help reduce the environmental impact of IT through efficiency and economies of scale.

The study was commissioned by Microsoft and conducted by Accenture and WSP Environment & Energy.

Melalui aliansi ini, Fujitsu membidik para pelanggan SAP yang ingin berkonsentrasi pada bisnis intinya sehingga menyerahkan pengelolaan infrastruktur SAP kepada pihak lain yang memiliki kompetensi. Para pelanggan SAP yang menggunakan Fujitsu SAP IaaS ini cukup membayar biaya berlangganan sehingga menghilangkan Capital Expenditure (CAPEX). Dari hasil pengujian terhadap teknologi FlexFrame, para pelanggan SAP dapat menghemat biaya hingga 30 persen dengan memastikan tingkat layanan terpenuhi sesuai dengan kebutuhan mission-critical di seluruh lingkungan SAP.

Skema bayar sesuai pemakaian ini adalah salah satu kriteria kunci definisi Fujitsu tentang komputasi Awan, seperti tertuang dalam strategi Awan global yang diumumkan April tahun lalu. Fujitsu SAP IaaS akan memperkuat penawaran komputasi Awan global dari Fujitsu, khususnya komputasi Awan Mode 1, yakni konsumsi infrastruktur.

Teknologi inti yang memungkinkan penawaran ini adalah FlexFrame yang menggabungkan seluruh infrastruktur peranti keras dan solusi peranti lunak. Saat ini, FlexFrame sudah dipasang di lebih dari 200 lokasi seluruh dunia yang menjalankan instalasi SAP berskala besar. FlexFrame tersedia sejak 2004 dan sejak saat itu terus memimpin di pasar solusi infrastruktur.
